MBM Potatoes
The most important thing to remember when we’re handling and storing potatoes is the fact that it is still a living organism and as such we have to look after it very carefully. Probably the most single important factor is temperature control and maintaining an even temperature, especially when we’re talking about crisping and frying potatoes to get that even fry colour consistently throughout the year. At MBM, once the potatoes have been lifted they’re graded in the farming shed here and put straight into cold storage and maintain a temperature of about nine degrees. We then put it onto refrigerated transport and send it out to your facilities, where I’m pleased to hear; you maintain a similar regime in your storage facilities in London.
